UFL Attendance: St. Louis Continues to Shine

The San Antonio Brahmas played on Sunday afternoon, knowing that a victory would clinch a playoff berth. They were up against Lone Star State rival Arlington, looking to secure their sixth victory in eight tries. Renegades coach Bob Stoops is simply searching for answers in a lost season. With all that in mind, San Antonio took the field already knowing the result of the DC Defenders-St. Louis Battlehawks showdown.

Per Sports Illustrated’s Mike Mitchell, over 11,000 fans attended the contest between the Renegades and Brahmas at the Alamodome.

What Happened?

San Antonio jumped on the hapless Renegades early and often, holding a 20-3 lead at the half. Tight end Cody Latimer was quarterback Quinten Dormady’s favorite target. Running back Anthony McFarland also played a large part in building the lead with two receiving touchdowns.

The second half was a defensive struggle in which the Brahmas’ offense wasn’t at its peak. Arlington’s defense bucked up and stopped San Antonio on several drives, giving their struggling offense a chance. They shut out the Brahmas in the second half. San Antonio’s defense also stepped up their game, making Luis Perez’s life in the pocket miserable. Arlington scored with 1:20 left on the clock, making the game tense with a 20-15 scoreline. They elected to take the 4th and 12 option to try to keep the ball. It failed with a sack on Perez

As a result, the Brahmas secured the win with kneel-downs and clinched a spot in the XFL conference championship game.

In the XFL Conference Championship game, they will take on the St. Louis Battlehawks on Sunday, June 9th at 7 PM ET.

What’s next for each team?

The 1-7 Renegades will host the high-flying Battlehawks on Saturday at Noon with playoff-seeding implications on the line. San Antonio has a tough one at home against the reigning USFL champion and undefeated Birmingham Stallions. That game could be a possible preview of the UFL title game for both teams. It will be played on Saturday at 3 PM ET on ABC.
