The Winnipeg Blue Bombers earned their first win of the 2024 CFL season last week, but still have plenty of ground to make up. The team was expected to contend for the Grey Cup, but has to reach the playoffs first. There’s still time left. Montreal and Saskatchewan are the two undefeated teams remaining, while Hamilton and Edmonton are searching for the first wins of the season. It’s a decent slate of games this week, highlighted by the Alouettes and the Argonauts. The 2024 CFL Week 6 odds are expecting several close games over the course of the week.

Argonauts vs Alouettes

Date & Time: Thursday, July 11, 7:30 pm ET
Location: Percival Molson Memorial Stadium, Montreal, Quebec

The rivalry between Toronto (2-2) and Montreal (5-0) has another chapter on Thursday, as the Argos visit Montreal. Toronto is 2.5 games behind Montreal and needs a win to stay within striking distance. The Alouettes could put some serious room between themselves and the second-place team with a win. Toronto has lost its only road game of the year and is 2-1 at home. The CFL scores show Toronto is averaging 29 points per game and allowing 31.

The Alouettes are one of just two unbeaten teams remaining and has the best defense in the league. Montreal is allowing 19.8 points per game and scoring 31.4. It’s easy to go 5-0 with that type of scoring differential. The Alouettes are favored by 6.5 and the total is 51. Have to believe that the Argonauts find a way to keep it close and will grab Toronto +6.5 in a rivalry game.

Stampeders vs Blue Bombers

Date & Time: Friday, July 12, 8:30 pm ET
Location: Princess Auto Stadium, Winnipeg, MB

It took the Winnipeg Blue Bombers about four weeks longer than expected to get their first win of the season. Now that the losing streak is over, Winnipeg can get to the business at hand. Despite being 1-4, the Bombers’ CFL playoff odds aren’t that bad, as there are three 2-2 teams and two more teams looking for their first win. Winnipeg is favored by 3.5, with a total of 47 against the Stampeders. Quarterback Zach Collaros, who missed last game, was a full participant in practice Monday.

Calgary is one of those 2-2 teams Winnipeg is chasing and the Stampeders haven’t played bad. They’re 2-0 at home and 0-2 on the road, however, so they need to break through away from home. This game isn’t the easiest from a handicapping perspective, but would give the slightest of leans to the over 47.

Roughriders vs Lions

Date & Time: Saturday, July 13, 7:00 pm ET
Location: BC Place, Vancouver, British Columbia

The 2024 CFL Week 6 odds have 4-1 British Columbia (4-1) favored by 7 over 4-0 Saskatchewan with a total of 52.5. The Roughriders took advantage of four Cameron Dukes interceptions last week to pull out the 30-23 win over Toronto. It’s hard to imagine they’ll be so fortunate this game. You can talk about the weak schedule all you want, but the ‘Riders are taking care of business on the scoreboard, which is all that matters.

The Lions have bounced back with four straight wins after an opening-week loss to Toronto. British Columbia trails Saskatchewan by a half-game in the CFL standings, but should be in first place if this one plays out as expected. Vernon Adams is leading the league in passing yards and tied for the league lead with 11 TD passes. The Lions are firing on all cylinders right now and will take British Columbia -7 in this game.

Redblacks vs Elks

Date & Time: Sunday, July 14, 7:00 pm ET
Location: Commonwealth Stadium, Edmonton, AB

The final game on this week’s schedule is Ottawa visiting Edmonton on Sunday night. The 2024 CFL Week 6 odds have Edmonton favored by 4 with a total of 49. Ottawa quarterback Dru Brown left Friday’s game with Winnipeg after a head shot and was replaced by Dustin Crum. Quarterback Jeremiah Masoli started the season on the injured list. There’s no word yet on Brown’s status for the game.

Edmonton is 0-4 on the season, yet they’re decent-sized favorites over the Redblacks. Part of that likely has to do with the Ottawa quarterback situation. Still, it’s not easy laying more than a field goal with an 0-4 team. It could very well be a trap, but have to side with the Redblacks +4 in this game.
