Manchester City coach Guardiola is “tired”, next season may be his last

Pep Guardiola has hinted that next season could be his last as Manchester City coach.

Guardiola led his team to win the English Premier League title for the fourth time in a row, a record, after a 3-1 victory over West Ham at Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

He has a contract until 2025 which he intends to honor, but the 53-year-old has indicated he may not sign another new contract.

“The truth is that I am closer to leaving than staying,” Guardiola said.

“We spoke with the club and my feeling is that I want to stay now. I will stay next season and during the season we will talk. But after eight or nine years, we will see.”

Guardiola has now won 15 major trophies during eight years at City, and could reach 16 with the FA Cup final against Manchester United next weekend.

The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach admitted he is “tired” and said he will need to find new “motivation” over the summer before the new season starts in August.

He added: “I have a contract, and I’m still here.” “Some moments I feel a bit tired, but some moments I like it and we are here winning games, looking good with the new players.

“I started thinking: No one has done four games in a row, why not try?” Now I feel like it’s over, what’s next?

“Right now, I don’t know exactly what the motivation is to do this because it’s hard to find when everything is done.”

If Guardiola fulfills his commitment to stay at City next season, he expects Arsenal to once again compete for the title.

Mikel Arteta’s side have finished second in the past two seasons after collecting 89 points this season. Guardiola said he “got the message.”

Guardiola said: “Before, it was Liverpool who crossed our limits, and now it is Arsenal.

“I want to congratulate them from the bottom of my heart, to Mikel, his coaching staff and the players. They had a great season. I feel it and they are pushing us to our best as before. We have received the message from Mikel and his players. We have to make the right decisions in the coming years because they are here to stay” .
