Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Chelsea are closing in on a deal for the Fulham star and has reported Manchester United defensive target Tosino Adarabioyo.

Over the past few weeks, the out-of-contract Fulham defender has been mentioned as the main alternative for United in the club’s efforts to strengthen their defensive department.

Newcastle were thought to be leading the race to secure Adarabioyo’s services, but a report covering The Peoples Person warns that the Red Devils are still struggling to land him.

United and the Magpies were believed to be the two main clubs in the running for the 26-year-old until recently when Chelsea entered the fray and went a step further by offering him a contract.

Details of the terms the Blues have set for the player, such as the length of the contract and financial terms, have not been specified. However, Chelsea’s proposal appears to have proved satisfactory for Adarabioyo and his representatives, if the latest update from Roman is to be expected.

An Italian journalist wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “Chelsea are closing in on a deal to sign Tosino Adarabioyo, negotiations are in the final stages.”

“Newcastle have been working on a Toshina deal for weeks, but Chelsea are now the clear favourites, cautious until it’s done.”

“Tošin will be the first signing for Enzo Maresca, if everything goes according to plan.”

Roman’s information was confirmed by Jacob Steinberg of The Guardian.

It remains to be seen if INEOS will allow Adarabioyo to complete his move to Stamford Bridge or if they will instead step in and try to lure the Englishman to United.

Landing Premier League-proven quality like Adarabioyo for free is a very rare prospect and it’s easy to see why top clubs are looking to get him over the line early enough.

A product of Manchester City’s academy, Adarabioyo has made 129 appearances for the Cottagers since joining them in 2020.
