With a new manager comes a new chance for Liverpool’s young loanees to make an impact on the first team in pre-season.
While Jurgen Klopp was a coach who gave young players a chance to shine in the first team, not every player made the cut and some were sent out on loan to gain extra experience.
The arrival of head coach Arne Slott could signal a new opportunity for those who have spent the last few months away from Merseyside.
With the Dutchman potentially needing new players in key positions such as left-back and goalkeeper, he could turn to those who have impressed on loan.
Here are five Liverpool loanees who could be given a chance under Sloto:
Fabio Carvalho
Age: 21
Position: attacking midfielder
LFC applications: 21
After a dismal first half of the season at RB Leipzig, in which he started just three times and spent 360 minutes on the pitch, Carvalho returned to Liverpool and returned to the Championship on loan.
In League Two, he joined Tyler Morton at Liam Rosenior’s play-off-challenged Hull City.
In the end, the Tigers missed out and the manager was controversially out of a job, but it has been a successful few months on an individual basis for the Portuguese.
Most of his appearances for Hull came as a false nine, with Carvalho scoring nine goals in 20 games for the Tigers before returning to impress Slott.
Tyler Morton
Age: 21
Position: Central midfielder
LFC applications: 9
Morton has been a big influence at Blackburn in the 2022/23 season, and has quickly won the hearts of Hull fans this campaign.
His strength and composure on the ball, as well as his ability to read the play, made him a stalwart in the Hull side that finished seventh in the Championship.
The 21-year-old has clearly grown in stature and confidence throughout the campaign and the combative midfielder will also be hoping to force his way into Slott’s squad next season.
You get the feeling that one more loan move could be the limit before he breaks into the first team or leaves permanently.

Age: 21
Position: left back
LFC applications: 3
This has been by far the best season of Owen Beck’s professional career so far, becoming a fan favorite at Dundee and even getting a brief Premier League appearance in Liverpool’s 4-0 win against Bournemouth.
After a frustrating 2022/23 season that saw loan spells at Famalicao and Bolton fall through, Ian Rush’s great-nephew made sure he didn’t waste his chance in Scotland, playing brilliantly as an attacking left-back.
He made a brief return to Merseyside in January, featuring under Klopp, but a deal was quickly agreed for him to return to Dundee.
Beck made that impression north of the border voted by the player in the PFA Scotland Premiership Team of the Year.
Luke Chambers
Age: 19
Position: left back
LFC applications: 4
Another left-back on this list, Luke Chambers spent the first half of the season bouncing between the first team and the under-21s before moving to Wigan in January.
With a wicked delivery on the left foot, Chambers has long been seen as a big prospect in the academy and was given his debut against Leicester in the League Cup.
After that, he made three more appearances, including two starts in the Europa League, before going straight to Shaun Maloney’s Wigan side.
The 19-year-old has made 18 Ligue 1 appearances at the time, with his manager saying: “To keep it really simple, we signed him in January and he’s improved our starting XI.”
Vitezslav Jaroš
Age: 22
Position: Goalkeeper
LFC applications: 0

Vitezslav Jaroš’s move to Sturm Graz in January was an undoubted success, as he won the Austrian double, ending Red Bull Salzburg’s domestic dominance.
It is understood the 22-year-old goalkeeper is yet to feature for the Reds, with Caoimhin Kelleher and Adrian ahead of him in the pecking order, but that could change this summer.
Having played every game but one since arriving in Austria, Liverpool and their new-look goalkeeper must surely take a serious look at Jaros if Kelleher or Adrian leave.
