Manchester United have learned just what it will take to complete the signing of Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt this summer.

United are looking to rejuvenate their backline and it seems that all their attention is now trained on sealing a deal for De Ligt.

A previous report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United entered talks with De Ligt’s camp to declare their interest in him. It’s believed that the player is open to the move ahead of a possible reunion with Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford. The two worked enjoyed great success together in the Netherlands with Ajax.

A subsequent report relayed that the Red Devils have offered the central defender a five-year deal and it appears that there is already an agreement in place over personal terms.

According to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, Bayern have now set their price for De Ligt.

Plettenberg wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “FC Bayern have now set a price for Matthijs de Ligt and are demanding at least 50 million euros plus bonus payments!”

“No official offer from Man Utd yet!”

“Top agent Rafaela Pimenta in direct touch with ManUtd to find an agreement and a top solution for De Ligt as Ten Hag really wants him!”

Last term, De Ligt made 30 appearances across all competitions for Bayern. In that period, he managed two goals while also helping the Bavarian club keep nine clean sheets.

The 24-year-old is currently away on international duty with Netherlands, who are aiming for Euro 2024 glory in the knockout stages of the competition.

He has yet to make an appearance in the tournament and has been an unused substitute in all three of the Netherlands’ Group D fixtures vs. Austria, France and Poland.

So far, Ronald Koeman has demonstrated a clear preference for a centre-back pairing of Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk and Inter Milan’s  Stefan de Vrij.
