TOP STORY: Manchester United open to Rashford offers
Manchester United will listen to offers for Marcus Rashford following a breakdown in the winger’s relationship with manager Erik ten Hag, according to The Sun.
The 26-year-old’s future was tied in with that of the United head coach and, now that Ten Hag is staying, the club will look to bring in funds by offloading the academy graduate.
The Red Devils want £80 million but might have to accept closer to £60m following Rashford’s drop in form last season, which also resulted in the forward missing out on a place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the Euros.
Rashford was reportedly barely on speaking terms with Ten Hag by the end of the season after defying the manager by partying in Belfast when he was due to train at Carrington shortly after. This came after a warning from Ten Hag about the forward’s conduct after he went out following a heavy derby day defeat against Manchester City.
The incident that damaged their relationship most was Rashford being left out of an FA Cup tie against Newport County having been out until the early hours of Friday before calling in sick later that day, with the match being on Sunday.
Rashford thought Ten Hag would be leaving, which would provide him a fresh start, but new United owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe made a U-turn after the Dutchman guided Man United to victory in the FA Cup final.
