Miami continued its torrid run to land a commitment from top interior offensive lineman SJ Alofituli when the Hurricanes beat Michigan and Nebraska on Friday afternoon.

The five-star offensive guard from Bishop Gorman High School in Nevada is the No. 10 overall prospect in the 2025 ESPN 300. Alofituli’s decision comes after the 6-foot-3, 285-pound blocker took official visits to Miami, Michigan and each. Nebraska last month, and he joins the Hurricanes’ 2025 class as the highest-ranked prospect to commit to the program this cycle.

In Alofituli, coach Mario Cristobal made his 10th commitment since June 18 with former USC commit Hilton Stubbs — who made his commitment to the Hurricanes on July 4 — along with inside linebacker Gavin Nix (No. 191 in 2025). ESPN 300), defensive end Herbert Scroggins (No. 262) and cornerback Chris Ewald (No. 274). Four-star inside linebacker Elijah Melendez, who has been committed to Miami since December, remains the Hurricanes’ top-ranked defender in the 2025 class.

Alofituli, one of the most experienced offensive linemen in the 2025 class, has a long list of offers with interest from across the SEC and Big Ten. Miami offensive line coach Alex Mirabal’s pull and the program’s track record for producing top offensive line talent were part of what drew Alofituli to Coral Gables.

“The vibe of the building and the people that really make the program possible really stuck with me,” he told ESPN. “Coach Cristobal, coach Mirabal and (graduate assistant) Reggie Bain were overall great people and they know how to build offensive linemen out there.”

Originally from Ewa Beach, Hawaii, Alofituli will close his high school career as a stalwart and four-year starter along the offensive line of national power Bishop Gorman. A versatile blocker for a program that finished 12-0 en route to the Nevada 5A Division I state title last fall, Alofituli is expected to play as a guard or center at the next level.

True to his promise, Allofituli intends to terminate his appointment.

“For now, it will remain closed,” he said. “But if anything, I’m willing to visit.”

Miami began the month outside of ESPN’s top-25 rankings in the 2025 class. The Hurricanes are trending upward as the recruiting trail heats up in July, with Allofituli’s commitment at the end of a hot run for Cristobal and Co.
