Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood has reportedly set a transfer demand amidst uncertainty over his future.

Greenwood has not played for United since January 2022, when he was arrested and later charged with attempted rape, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and controlling and coercive behaviour.

The charges against him were later dropped, with the Crown Prosecution Service citing the withdrawal of material witnesses from the case.

United had provisionally planned to reintegrate Greenwood into Erik ten Hag’s ranks but when their plot was leaked, it sparked public outcry and backlash, which prompted the club to backtrack and send him out on loan to Spain with Getafe.

The Englishman enjoyed a successful loan spell under Jose Bordalas, which saw him bag 10 goals and six assists in 36 appearances across all competitions. His exploits saw him claim Getafe’s Player of the Season award.

Unsurprisingly, Greenwood’s performances piqued the interest of some of Europe’s biggest clubs, who have all been mentioned to be interested in offering him his next permanent. The player has been linked to outfits such as Atletico Madrid. Borussia Dortmund, Barcelona, Lazio, Valencia, Marseille and Juventus.

It was stated that United are eager to spark a bidding war for their academy graduate.

A previous report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Lazio tabled a bid for the 22-year-old, which was rejected. The Serie A outfit are thought to be preparing a new and improved offer.

The Mirror now relay that Greenwood wants his future settled as soon as possible – a demand he has issued to United.

According to the newspaper, “Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood wants his future sorting out in the next week. Sources say Greenwood is growing impatient with uncertainty over where he will be playing in the new season.”

“The one-cap England international, 22, is understood to be cool on the idea of a move to Marseille and still favours a permanent switch to Spain, where he spent last term on loan with Getafe.”

“Greenwood is desperate to have his future sorted, having already begun his own personal pre-season training.”

Meanwhile, The Athletic note that Greenwood is not expected to make his return to Carrington on Monday when the rest of the United players report back.

It’s understood that the forward is poised to be given additional time off as United work to secure a permanent exit for him.
