There could be double Dutch joy for Manchester United this week as both Joshua Zirkzee and Matthijs de Ligt look close to joining the club in the next few days.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has just quote tweeted his post from July 7th stating that the two players are on their way, with an eyeballs emoji suggesting things are moving quickly.

He followed this up with a post saying “Matthijs de Ligt told his agent Rafaela Pimenta two weeks ago: only Man United, no negotiations with other clubs. The contract agreed is valid until June 2029, five years. De Ligt only wants United.

“Negotiations between Man United and Bayern are also proceeding well.”

Meanwhile, The Peoples Person relayed a report just minutes ago claiming that Zirkzee was ready to fly to England to complete a €40 million move from Bologna.

And now, despite an insistence from tier one reporter David Ornstein that the De Ligt deal is far from done, Sky Germany are adamant that it is, in fact, close to completion.

“Matthijs de Ligt has made his decision: he definitely wants to leave FC Bayern and move to Manchester United,” Sky reporter Kerry Hau posted on X.

“The defender has agreed a long-term contract with the English club.

“His agent Rafaela Pimenta is working with the clubs to close the deal.

“Negotiations are well advanced and an agreement is close.”

It was reported that Bayern were asking for a minimum of €50 million for De Ligt, with United expected to offer a €40 million package.

It does not seem like an insurmountable gap to bridge and with Bayern having already lined up Jonathan Tah to replace De Ligt, a deal that was said to be contingent on his sale, both clubs will be wanting a swift resolution to negotiations.

With both De Ligt and Zirkzee likely to be keen to sign before taking their post-Euro 24 holidays, United fans could be in the position of seeing both stars holding up the famous red jersey within days, transfer efficiency they have rarely seen since the Glazer family took control of the club in 2005.
