Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that reported Manchester United target Youssouf Fofana has reached an agreement over personal terms with AC Milan.

Fofana has repeatedly been mentioned as a player United are interested in as the club plots a revamp of their midfield department.

Christian Eriksen and Casemiro are looking increasingly likely to part ways with the Red Devils this summer. Combine this with the uncertainty over whether or not United will make Sofyan Amrabat’s stay at the club permanent and it’s easy to see why reinforcements in the middle of the park are being sought.

Fofana is coming off his best personal season with Monaco as he helped the club qualify for the Champions League.

The France international ranked in the 82nd percentile for successful passes and in the 81st percentile for dribbles completed last term. He won an average of 5.12 ground duels per 90. He also put in 2.04 tackles and registered 1.20 interceptions per 90.

AS Monaco director Thiago Scuro admitted that Fofana is free to leave Les Monégasques if an acceptable offer is made for him.

A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Fofana – who is entering the final 12 months of his contract – is valued at around £30 million.

Last month, Fofana’s former teammate Cesc Fabregas hinted that the Monaco star could snub a transfer to the Premier League in favour of sealing a switch to Serie A’s Milan.

Romano has now stated that the 25-year-old has said yes to a move to the San Siro.

The Italian journalist wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Understand Youssuf Fofana has agreed personal terms with AC Milan.”

“The player has accepted the proposal, he wants to join Milan. Negotiations ongoing with AS Monaco.”

“Monaco already rejected €30m proposal from Nottingham Forest, as talks with AC Milan will follow.”

Fofana is not the only midfielder United are pursuing. The Red Devils have been linked to other stars such as Amadou Onana (Everton), Manuel Ugarte (Paris Saint-Germain), Morten Hjulmand (Sporting Lisbon) and Joao Neves (Benfica), just to mention a few names.
