Austin FC lost against Seattle Sounders FC last Saturday night at Q2 Stadium. The Sounders took the lead in the 63rdst minute with Jordan Morris, the only goal of the night in a tight game.

The Verde & Black now shift their attention to their midweek match against Texas rivals FC Dallas on Wednesday night. The two have already met twice this season, earning a win apiece. In late March, goals from Diego Rubio and Julio Cascante lifted the Verde & Black to a 2-1 win against their I-35 rivals at home. In May, captain Sebastián Driussi converted a penalty in Austin’s 2-1 defeat at Toyota Stadium.

Wednesday’s game is crucial as the result will decide this season’s Copa Tejas, a supporters’ trophy which Austin has won each of the last two seasons. The Verde & Black can claim it for the third straight year with a win or a draw in Frisco and build momentum heading into Saturday’s home game against Charlotte FC.

FC Dallas is currently sitting in 11thth spot in the Western Conference, one spot below Austin with a 7-11-5 record. Dallas enters Wednesday’s game coming off a 2-0 win against the LA Galaxy at home on Saturday night, their fourth win in seven games under interim coach Peter Luccin.

Dallas forward Petar Musa is currently on a hot streak, scoring seven goals in his last six MLS appearances. FCD’s Logan Farrington scored Dallas’ other goal against the Galaxy and is now tied with Toronto FC’s Tyrese Spicer for most goals scored by a 2024 MLS SuperDraft selection in MLS.

In terms of goals scored and goals conceded, Dallas ranks right in the middle of all MLS teams. 1.5 goals per game and 1.6 goals conceded per game are both 15th in the league. They have been much stronger at home than they have been on the road this season, with 23 of their 26 points coming at the Toyota Stadium.
