It was only a matter of time before Malik Fisher found himself on an NFL roster. The DC Defenders standout Defensive End has signed with the Houston Texans, the UFL announced on Monday.

Malik Fisher was on the DC Defenders roster in 2023, but spent that season developing behind some of the other talent on the D-Line. He played in seven games, totaling just six tackles that year.

However, Fisher completely changed the narrative in the UFL. Fisher started in nine of ten games played in 2024, dominating up front for this Defenders defensive line. Malik ended up posting 30 tackles, six TFL’s, six sacks, three PBU’s, and a forced fumble for DC this season.

Malik finished the year with a strong 70.7 Defensive Grade, including a 77.4 Pass Rushing Grade via PFF. He was spoken highly of all season long by Head Coach Reggie Barlow and the personnel in DC, having shown tremendous development from the year prior.

One of Fisher’s most impressive performances came in week five, against the St. Louis Battlehawks. While DC lost the game in a blowout, Malik had three sacks, and a forced fumble plus recovery – keeping the Defenders within arm’s reach early on.

Final Thoughts

Fisher earned NFL interest this offseason, having a workout with the Baltimore Ravens last month. After going quiet for a bit of time, Fisher has now signed with the Houston Texans. Houston is no stranger to the spring football scene. They signed Stallions’ star DT Khalil Davis last year, who has proven to be a key piece to their defensive line. Now, Malik will look to follow in those same footsteps.

Without the national platform that the UFL provided Malik with, who knows if this opportunity would have been possible. You can stay up to date with all UFL to NFL signings with our official tracker.
