Baton Rouge, La. — LSU sophomore cornerback Xavien Toviano surrendered to authorities Sunday on video surveillance charges, the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office said.
Toviano, 19, of Arlington, Texas, is accused of recording sex with a woman without her consent, according to an arrest warrant. The woman told detectives she found video of the two on Toviano’s iPad that was recorded by a watch with a built-in camera near the bed, The Times-Picayune/The New Orleans Advocate reported.
The woman told detectives that Toviano had recorded their sexual intercourse in the past without her consent and that she had told him she did not want to be recorded.
Toviano, in an interview with detectives, admitted to using a hidden camera to record the sexual encounter, the arrest warrant said.
Bond information was not immediately available. It was unknown if Toviano had an attorney who could speak for him.
Toviano “has been suspended from all team activities per department policy,” LSU said in a statement.
“Out of respect for the legal process, we will not comment further,” the university said.
LSU began preseason practices on Aug. 1 and Toviano was expected to compete for playing time at cornerback.
He signed with LSU last year. He appeared in every game as a freshman and started three of the last five games. He finished his freshman season with 33 tackles and one pass breakup.
