Juventus are reportedly pivoting from Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho to FC Porto’s Wenderson Galeno.

It was assumed for most of last season and during the beginning of the market that Sancho would be sold or loaned out and that he had no obvious future at Old Trafford.

He was originally linked to a move to Borussia Dortmund after spending half of last season on loan there, helping them reach the final of the Champions League.

The Serie A side, Juventus, then emerged as favourites for the 24 year old winger and he had signalled his willingness to join up with the Italians.

Nonetheless, an unexpected rapprochement took place between coach Erik ten Hag and Sancho at the beginning of the month and he returned to full training with the senior squad, taking part in United’s latest pre-season game against Glasgow Rangers.

The Italian site Calciomercato report that this is bad news for Juventus’ pursuit of the winger.

They state that due to his positive talks with Ten Hag, his “farewell is now on standby” which “considerably complicates the plans of Juventus”.

“The player had also put Juventus at the top of his wish list, but after the discussion he had with the Dutch coach, his position could change, so much so that he decides to stay in the Premier League.”

“Cristiano Giuntoli (Juventus’ sporting director) is therefore moving to look for other leads and among the names taken into consideration there is also that of the Porto winger Wenderson Galeno.”

It had been reported that the Italian giants had shifted their focus to Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi as they cannot afford the €40 million price that United are looking for.

To complicate matters though, it was relayed here yesterday that Juventus were planning to use the money from the sale of Matias Soule to fund another bid for Sancho.

As things currently stand, it looks like Sancho will remain at Old Trafford and could provide United with extra competition on the wings that they had assumed they had lost.

Nonetheless, the player does seem very much on the market should a sizeable bid be received, so this is certainly a story that can continue to evolve until the end of the transfer window.
