Manchester United’s Rasmus Hojlund posted a photo of himself on Instagram making a joke about the Scandinavian weather as he steps up his recovery from injury.

After a disappointing Euro 2024 with Denmark, pre-season started off perfectly for Hojlund as he was given the number nine shirt for his boyhood club after Anthony Martial left at the end of his contract in June.

Things got even better when he started the fist game of the club’s tour of the United States and he found himself on the score sheet after just 10 minutes of action.

He raced through on goal after a long ball by Marcus Rashford, expertly held off the Gunners’ defender and slotted the ball through the keeper’s legs.

Disaster struck though as shortly after, he was almost in for a second goal but immediately fell to the ground and asked for medical attention. Consequently he made a sharp exit from the field of play and it was announced shortly before United’s second tour match against Real Betis that he would miss six weeks of action due to the hamstring injury.

Nobody would blame the 21 year old for feeling down but he showed the world that he is already in a positive frame of mind with his latest social media post.

The image on Instagram shows the young forward in a cryo chamber in just shorts, evidently to aid the recovery of his injury.

Despite wearing a mask on his face, he his clearly smiling and posted beside the image, “Don’t worry. In Scandinavia we call this summer.”

The youngster’s positive state of mind is encouraging as he also suffered an injury last season at an incredibly unfortunate time, as he picked up a problem against Luton Town after scoring seven goals in six matches, including a brace in that game.

That issue kept him out of action until mid-March and broke the rhythm of his season, as he only scored three more goals in the rest of the campaign.

The Dane will be hopeful that this season, extra striking help in Joshua Zirkzee and possibly even Chido Obi-Martin can help lighten the load on the striker who was at times overworked with Martial’s injury problems and lack of alternative number nine in the squad.

Moreover, with the squad seemingly moving to a more possession-based focus following patterns of pre-season play, there should be more opportunities for the Dane to get involved in the game and hopefully have more chances to score. After finding the net 16 times in his opening campaign, he will see no reason why he can’t break the 20 mark this season, as United aim to go far in numerous competitions.
