INEOS have been busy strengthening Manchester United in the summer transfer window and once it is done, they have plans to change the club’s global face moving forward.
Ever since his sudden rise from the academy to the first team, Marcus Rashford has been the face of the club around the world but the new co-owners have plans of their own.
The Mancunian’s drop-off in form and off-field controversies have not impressed Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his entourage who are looking at making Kobbie Mainoo the club’s new poster boy from now on.
The Euro 2024 star was one of the standout performers in a disappointing season for the Red Devils, with his goals against Manchester City in the FA Cup final and Liverpool making him a firm fan-favourite.
New face of United
As revealed by Football Transfers, the 19-year-old will be seen far more in promotional material, interviews and community events and United will put him at the forefront of the club’s new revamped image.
INEOS have been impressed with the academy graduate’s displays on the pitch and his rapid rise up the levels is expected to inspire the new generation of fans.
Significant public relation plans are being hatched which will focus on showing the midfield ace’s journey with the club and his national team.
“In a move to shape the future of Manchester United, Sir Jim Ratcliffe is poised to make Kobbie Mainoo the new face of the Old Trafford outfit, FootballTransfers understands.
“Plans are being put into place ahead of the 2024/25 season to increase Mainoo’s presence in promotional material and to push him to the forefront of the club’s public image.
Expect to see Mainoo a lot more
“Fellow academy graduate Marcus Rashford has been the symbol of Man Utd for several years. However, recent off-field issues and a dip in form, which saw him come under fire last season, have led to the search for a new leading figure.
“Sources have told us this process will involve significant public relations and marketing efforts, showcasing the youngster’s journey with United and his rise within the England national team.”
For now, a new contract for the academy youngster will be at the forefront of INEOS’ minds ahead of the new season.
The midfielder is yet to rejoin training after his Euro exploits and was seen wowing fans with his skills during a beach football game in the middle of his holidays.
