Manchester United are reportedly on the brink of sealing a deal for Canada international Simi Awujo.
BBC reveal, “Manchester United are set to sign Canada international Simi Awujo.”
Her arrival is dependent on visa approval.
The Guardian adds that talks for the singing of Awujo are advanced. If the transfer gets over the line, she will put pen to paper on a three-year contract.
“The Guardian understands that subject to a visa being approved for the 20-year-old, Awujo is poised to complete her move to the Women’s Super League club after positive talks.”
It’s understood that Marc Skinner’s side are hopeful that Awujo will bolster their options in the middle of the park after the high-profile exits of club captain Katie Zelem and Irene Guerrero.
Awujo has been plying her trade in the collegiate system in the United States, representing the University of Southern California’s USC Trojans team.
The Atalanta-born footballer has represented the US at youth level before switching allegiance to Canada in 2022.
Since making her debut at 18, Awujo has gone on to amass 19 caps for Canada.
She was part of the Canada squad that reached the quarter-final of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, where they lost in a penalty shootout to Germany.
She played three games in the competition, starting two of them.
At the Olympics, Awujo registered two shots and three tackles per game.

The 20-year-old would be Skinner’s fifth summer signing after the arrivals of Dutch defender Dominique Janssen, French forward Melvine Malard, Norway talisman Elisabeth Terland and Swedish full-back Anna Sandberg.
The next item on the agenda for United appears to be the recruitment of a top-class goalkeeper to replace Mary Earps, who left the Reds as a free agent for Paris Saint-Germain.
The Women’s Super League campaign kicks off on the weekend of September 21 and 22.
