Former Manchester United striker Anthony Martial is being targeted by French club LOSC Lille.

The 28 year old still remains without a club as we are almost a week into the last month of the transfer window.

He spent nine seasons at Old Trafford scoring 90 goals in the process.

His last season at the club was marred by ongoing injury problems which meant he kicked his last ball for United in competitive action in mid December.

The decision was therefore taken by the club that they would not offer a new deal to extend his stay into a 10th year.

Sky Sports report that Lille are the newest club to harbour an interest in the striker and that they have been “keen on him” following his departure from United.

It has also been reported here that Europa League winners Atalanta could target the former Red Devil to replace the injured Gianluca Scamacca.

Martial has been linked to numerous clubs in both France and Italy but no move has yet come to fruition.

Fiorentina, SS Lazio and Como 1907 have all recently been linked to the 28 year old but nobody has yet taken the plunge to sign the player and Inter Milan and Juventus were mentioned as possible destinations earlier in the summer.

In his native France, Olympique Lyonnais, Marseille and Monaco were all previously linked to the former Golden Boy winner.

There have also been extensive links to further afield, in the form of Turkey and Saudi Arabia, but yet again with nothing concrete taking place.

It could be assumed that the problem is his wage demands, as surely numerous clubs around Europe would be willing to take a gamble on a player of Martial’s credentials on a free transfer.

Despite never fulfilling anything close to his immense potential, he did score nine goals, largely from off the bench in the 2022/2023 season, and if his fitness is managed, he could still be a threat for a top league side in Europe.
