Manchester United winger Facundo Pellistri has emerged on Bologna’s radar amid their search for a new attacking outlet.
There is plenty of excitement around United’s young wingers, Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo, heading into the Premier League opener against Fulham this Friday.
However, another young winger, Pellistri finds his name on the periphery despite featuring in the Community Shield against Manchester City over the weekend.
The Uruguayan talent, who joined United in the summer of 2020 in a £9 million deal, is not expected to feature in Erik ten Hag’s lineup regularly after enduring yet another underwhelming loan spell.
The 22-year-old spent the second half of last season at Granada and managed to score just two goals in 15 La Liga appearances.
He might not yet be ready to make any considerable difference for United from the right wing, but Pellistri’s skill sets continue to attract suitors across Europe.
Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming Greek outfit Panathinaikos are interested in the player and even opened talks with United to negotiate a potential summer switch.
Now, Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport has thrown Bologna’s name into the race for Pellistri’s signature.
The newspaper suggests the Serie A outfit are looking for a versatile attacking player, and currently their enquiries concerning the same are focused on the Uruguayan international.
It is understood Pellistri featured on Bologna’s radar previously too and could be pursued by club chiefs Giovanni Sartori and Marco Di Vaio again this summer.
However, any movement is dependent on exits at Bologna. At the moment, current attacking stars Riccardo Orsolini and Jesper Karlsson have no intention of departing Bologna, who have qualified for this season’s Champions League.
The Italian side have already sold Joshua Zirkzee to the Red Devils for a fee believed to be in the region of €40m, but that might not be enough to get their hands on Pellistri.
As far as United are concerned, Bologna finding a solution to make a move for Pellistri would be a transfer boost, as he is reportedly among the players that the new regime are open to selling for a suitable offer this summer. The youngster is tied to the club until 2025.
