New Manchester United part owners Ineos are considering producing a behind-the-scenes documentary of their takeover of the club.

The Red Devils have remained one of the few clubs who have so far not gone down the route of letting cameras behind previously closed doors for fan entertainment.

Amazon have released documentaries on Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Manchester City as part of their “All or Nothing” series. These have given a fans a look at manager and player interactions before and after games as well as on the training ground.

According to The Times, United have rebuffed such offers in the past but new owners Ineos have been collecting footage of their takeover as they are “exploring the possibility of releasing a behind-the-scenes film on Manchester United as it documents its journey following the partial takeover.”

“The United co-owner has had an up-and-down journey so far at Old Trafford, admitting to facing ‘lots of bad surprises at Manchester United’” and there has been much change with a new sporting team in place, a busy transfer window and discussions over a new stadium.

“The Times can reveal that all of this is being documented with the hope of releasing it in the future, in the first instance as a book and then potentially as a documentary. Matt Dickinson, the former Times chief sports writer, has been recruited for the project.”

Ratcliffe has also revealed previously that he “has been keeping a video diary since his takeover of the club”, which could be used in a hypothetical documentary in the future.

Ineos, in their short time in power, have demonstrated that they are open to numerous ways of increasing revenue at the club.

This season is the first that will see United have sponsorship on the back of their shirt.

What’s more, they have also discussed the possibility of allowing a sponsor to be attached to the name of a new 100,000 seater stadium that could fetch up to £50 million per year in revenue.

Ratcliffe has also talked about how he expects the matchday experience to evolve over time with fans spending much more time in and around the stadium before and after kick off and resultingly leaving more money at the club.

Ineos have been aggressive in their decision-making so far and have gone down routes the Glazer family would not have imagined. The new owners seem to be much more willing to embrace aspects of modern football, so a future documentary can very much be seen as a realistic option to generate income as they would surely have no shortage of takers due to the club’s immense global popularity.
