Manchester United began the new Premier League season by securing all three points against Fulham at Old Trafford on Friday with Erik ten Hag forced to reshuffle his line-up due to injuries.

With Rasmus Hojlund absent, the Dutchman persisted with a false-nine system while at the back, Diogo Dalot played out on the left in place of the injured Luke Shaw while new signing Naossair Mazraoui started on the right.

The Moroccan can play on the opposite flank as well but considering the England international’s poor injury record and Tyrell Malacia’s struggles, Ten Hag wants a specialist left back to come in.

Shaw is expected to be out till the international break while the Netherlands international is unlikely to be fit before October. Considering their injury history, it would be prudent to recruit a left-back.

LB needed

However, with INEOS having already spent £140 million and with further outlay planned to land Manuel Ugarte, not much in terms of finances might be left to plug that gap.

But that has not stopped the rumour mill from linking several stars with a move to the Theatre of Dreams with Marcos Alonso, Ferdi Kadıoğlu and Mario Hermoso among the names that have found mention.

L’Equipe have now revealed that Stade Rennais’ Adrien Truffert is attracting plenty of interest from the Premier League with multiple clubs interested in the Frenchman.

He played a major role in France’s run to the final of the Olympics while last season, the 22-year-old notched seven assists and two goals from left-back.

Truffert in demand

“One of the questions that will stir up the end of Rennes’ transfer window is whether Adrien Truffert (22 years old, under contract until 2026) will fly away or continue a fifth season at Rennes?

“The Olympic silver medallist left-back resumed training on Tuesday in Brittany but he is in the sights of several clubs, particularly across the Channel (Wolverhampton, Liverpool, Manchester United, Nottingham Forest).”

The defender’s market value as per Transfermarkt stands at €18 million and with only two years left in his current deal, this summer might be Rennes’ last chance at recouping a substantial fee.

That price is expected to rise owing to United’s entry in the race. However, The Peoples Person had relayed that only loans or free agents will be considered by the new co-owners.
