Fulham have returned to the negotiating table to sign Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay, as per reports.
The Scotland international has been the subject of interest from Fulham all summer, with United understood to be open to parting ways with him for a suitable offer.
The problem so far, however, has been the London outfit’s reluctance to meet the Red Devils’ asking price, believed to be between £25 million and £30 million.
The Peoples Person previously covered a report claiming Fulham have already submitted two bids for McTominay, with the latest offer thought to be in the region of £20m.
This led to a standstill between the two clubs, and Fulham allegedly decided to look elsewhere to strengthen their midfield.
It seems the Cottagers have struggled to find a better alternative, as according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth, they have re-opened talks with United over the signing of their academy product.
Sheth adds Fulham were not expected to return for the combative midfielder unless United “were willing to negotiate” on their asking price. Now, they are prepared to make an improved offer if discussions progress “positively”.

Marco Silva saw his midfield get outplayed at Old Trafford this Friday. Meanwhile, McTominay had to spend the opening 84 minutes on the bench, as Erik ten Hag preferred to place his trust on the double pivot of Kobbie Mainoo and Casemiro.
Despite McTominay’s far from ideal situation at United and his boyhood club’s desire to sell him, Fulham might yet face a huge obstacle in their pursuit.
Napoli are also keen on adding McTominay to their ranks in Naples and are expected to make an offer for him after selling Victor Osimhen.
The potential bidding war may help United fetch a more desired fee for McTominay, who has entered the final year of his contract.
Further, his sale may boost the Manchester giants’ attempts to sign Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain. The Ligue 1 outfit are demanding north of €50m for the Uruguayan midfielder.
