Manchester United will reunite with former manager Jose Mourinho after being drawn against his side Fenerbahce in the Europa League.

Mourinho, who won the Europa League while in charge of United in 2017, moved to the Istanbul-based club this summer. United will also face Glasgow Rangers at Old Trafford and a trip to Porto’s Estadio do Dragao.

As with the Champions League, UEFA modified the tournament format by creating an eight-match round-robin phase and expanding the competition to 36 teams.

Unlike previous years, no team will be relegated from the Champions League after the first round. The fixtures are due to be announced on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Tottenham will play at home to Daniele De Rossi’s Roma and also face a trip to Galatasaray.

Rangers have been drawn against both United and Tottenham.

Under the new draw system, each team was drawn against eight different opponents – four home matches, four away matches – two matches from each of the four seeding pots.

Teams from the same league cannot face each other, and each club cannot play against more than two teams from the same country.

The top eight teams will qualify directly for the round of 16. Teams placed between ninth and twenty-fourth will advance to the knockout stage, while the bottom twelve teams will be eliminated.

In the group stage, Chelsea were drawn against Gent, Shamrock Rovers, FC Noah, Heidenheim, Astana and Panathinaikos.
