“I felt like I was the center of the world walking down the red carpet in my royal dress like a celebrity,” says Elissa. “It’s so nice that this happened to me because I’ve always had a crazy desire to be a role model for all the kids who look like me. I want to show them that we can get where we want with our skills and our hearts, even if many people – especially at school – look at us with strange looks! When asked if she had met anyone famous, she said: “The first famous person I met was Gabriel Di Bello, who is a famous actor and on top of that he is a Special Olympics athlete like me. We formed a great friendship. I took pictures with the actors who appeared in the movie we watched and who everyone else photographed, but I didn’t know them!”
“I had a great feeling walking the red carpet of the film festival, and I am happy that I did it with Elissa. Many people recognized me as an actress, and Elissa was the first! We met other actors, I did not know the language but we understood each other anyway by exchanging smiles and standing together for pictures,” Gabrielle adds.
