Victor Conte, the founder of SNAC, questions why Ryan Garcia rejected the offer from Devin Haney’s father and manager, Bill Haney, to agree to the 48-hour deadline to begin VADA testing for a potential rematch to happen.
Conte doesn’t understand why Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) wouldn’t agree to enroll in the drug testing program to get the lucrative rematch underway with Haney (31-0, 15 KOs). In Ryan’s rejection of Bill Haney’s 48-hour deadline that he’d given him to enroll in VADA, he said this as the reasons:
- “They are suing me.”
- “I don’t need them.”
Ryan Garcia forgot to mention that he’s still suspended and will not be available to fight until April 2025. It would be pointless for Ryan to enroll in drug testing now while suspended and with no contract signed for a rematch with Haney.
Once the rematch is negotiated and a fight date is selected, Garcia, 26, would make sense to enroll in VADA testing. Drug testing is quite expensive, and while Ryan is obviously a millionaire, he’s not on the level of Gilded Age tycoon Andrew Carnegie, with his massive $310 billion fortune.
If there is a rematch, Bill and Devin Haney must accept their B-side role in the negotiations with Ryan Garcia, who is extremely popular with his 12 million Instagram followers, charisma, and promotional ability. Ryan wiped out Haney in their fight on April 20th, winning a one-sided 12-round majority decision, and deserves to be the A-side in a potential second fight with Devin.
