Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen got on the score sheet and registered an assist as Denmark played out a 1-1 Nations League draw with Switzerland on Tuesday evening.
Remo Freuler put the hosts in the lead just before the half-hour mark but their advantage didn’t last for long as Denmark restored parity a minute later.
Eriksen reacted the fastest, taking a quick free-kick to release Gustav Isaksen, who made no mistake with goalkeeper Gregor Kobel at his mercy.
Zeki Amdouni then converted from the penalty spot, to ensure Switzerland headed down the tunnel on the front foot. In the 69th minute of proceedings, Eriksen found himself in the right place at the right time, to smash in the ball inside the back of the net and ensure the spoils were shared between the two sides.
During the 90 minutes including added time that he was on the pitch, Eriksen had 59 touches of the ball to his name.
He successfully found his teammates with 35 of the 40 passes he attempted, managing an individual pass accuracy of 88%. Three of Eriksen’s passes were key passes.
The United no. 14 tried to find his teammates with six crosses and five long balls. He successfully connected with three crosses and as many long balls.
Eriksen created one big chance – for Isaksen’s strike.
The 32-year-old midfield maestro had four shots to his name, two of which were on-target and the other two off-target. He also completed the one dribble he embarked on.
Eriksen delved into three ground duels and came out on top all three times. He put in two tackles.
It’s certainly great to see Eriksen enjoying his renaissance both at club and international levels. He shared the pitch with United teammate and fellow countryman Rasmus Hojlund.
However, unlike Eriksen, Hojlund didn’t have the greatest of games and was taken off after 57 minutes.
The striker had 17 touches of the ball and successfully delivered 10 passes. He managed just one shot, which required Kobel to swing into immediate action.
The United striker also won the one ground duel he contested.

For Eriksen and Hojlund, all attention now shifts to the club’s weekend meeting with Brentford at Old Trafford.
