Manchester United are reportedly targeting Alphonso Davies this summer to strengthen their left back position.
The Red Devils have been rather cursed the last two seasons in this section of the defence, as Luke Shaw only played 15 matches last season and is yet to feature in this campaign.
Back up left back Tyrell Malacia has had it even worse as he has not featured for the club since May 2023, but it is hoped he will return to action very shortly.
This has meant that Diogo Dalot has had to fill in out of position at left back, although with Noussair Mazraoui now being out of action, it is thought that Jonny Evans may be asked to take up the temporary role, with Dalot returning to his more natural position at right back.
Therefore, United are aiming to sign a left back this winter or summer and have previously been linked to players like Milos Kerkez and Miguel Gutierrez .
As a result, Sky Sport Germany report that “Alphonso Davies is one of Manchester United’s desired transfer targets for the upcoming summer.”
The 23 year old is not in any “concrete talks” with Bayern Munich over a new deal despite the fact his current one expires this summer but Bayern are hoping to re-open negotiations.
Therefore, “as of now, he could leave Bayern on a free transfer” with Real Madrid being considered “one of the top favourites, should he not extend his contract.”
“The Red Devils have already gathered information, but they don’t consider their chances to be very high” of landing the Canadian star.

Davies has had a successful start to life under Vincent Kompany at Bayern, playing eight times so far this season and he has contributed one assist.
The powerful left back would certainly add a completely new attacking dimension to United’s game and boasts a strong fitness record, only missing 13 matches for club and country since the start of the 2022/23 season.
Nonetheless, Real Madrid seem to be favourites to land the star and with United languishing in 14th position in the league, it looks like an incredibly tall order to convince the Canadian captain that Old Trafford is his wisest career move.
