Manchester United’s problems at left-back are well known with both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia sidelined since the start of pre-season.
The Netherlands international had missed the entire previous season while the England international was out for more than 35 games and their injury problems are yet to be resolved.
Erik ten Hag has been forced to play Diogo Dalot, a right-back by trade, on the left side for the majority of the games while new signing Noussair Mazraoui, another right-back, can also play in that position.
The manager had even suggested that centre-backs Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans can also play there if required while against Brentford, left centre-back Lisandro Martinez played in that position.
LB needed
The manager needs reinforcements in this position and INEOS are likely to address this come January after failing to land a free agent or a player on loan in the summer.
Bayern Munich superstar Alphonso Davies and former United academy graduate Alvaro Fernandez are among the players being eyed and now, TBR Football have added a new name into the mix.
They have claimed that the Red Devils are eyeing Argentina U23 international Julio Soler and have been regularly monitoring him with a view to a future move.
The Lanus star is only 19 and has already been called up to the senior Argentina squad and was part of the Argentina Olympic team as well.
“TBR Football understands Man United are checking on a number of left-back options going into 2025. TBR Football can now reveal a new name that has emerged in their sights in the shape of Argentine Under-20 captain Julio Soler.
“Soler is currently starring for Lanus in his homeland and was recently part of the Argentina Olympic squad. A number of European clubs have been alerted to Soler’s progress and Liverpool were linked in the summer.
Soler being eyed
“TBR Football can confirm that United have been active in recent months, making checks on Soler – who is rated extremely highly in South America.”
Liverpool were interested in the Paraguay-born star as well and they could return for him in the future. Soler has been described as a “pure talent” by Data Invicta and his current contract with Lanus is valid until 2026.
This means a cut-price exit could be on the cards and United are ready to take full advantage. His current market value stands at only €6 million as per Transfermarkt.
As relayed by The Peoples Person, INEOS have instructed club scouts to scour the South American market thoroughly in search of gems and lots of names from that region are coming up with Soler’s name being the latest.
