Lance Stroll has been Alonso’s team-mate at Aston Martin since the Spaniard joined the outfit at the start of 2023.
“Respect,” said Stroll. “It’s a lot of racing, and he’s still extremely hungry and competitive and fast – that’s what it comes down to. Chapeau!”
BEYOND THE GRID: Alonso on reaching 400 Grands Prix, his passion for F1 and why he’s still fired up
Esteban Ocon is another driver who spent time as Alonso’s team mate, having shared the Alpine garage with the Spaniard across 2021 and 2022.
“An incredible career,” he said. “You know, that’s the thing that stands out. To be still hungry, to have this determination, pushing to get the results every single time after 400 races – and that many titles that he’s won, in any categories pretty much that he’s done – a super impressive career. I hope that one day I can have even half of the career that he’s had. Well done to him and clearly he’s one of the best of all time.”
