Super-Lightweight contender Jamaine “The Technician” Ortiz is set to make his return to the ring as he will face Cristian Ruben Mino (24-9-2, 17 KOs) on Friday night, November 1st, at the Caribe Royale in Orlando, Florida, streaming live on DAZN.

This Boxlab Promotions headliner features one of the most dynamic contenders in the 140-pound division. Jamaine Ortiz will enter the ring with the intent to stay sharp and make a statement, while his opponent, Cristian Ruben Mino, plans on executing his game plan and pulling off the big upset.

The Worcester, Massachusetts native Jamaine Ortiz gained notoriety when he scored an upset victory over a former WBO junior-lightweight  world champion. Back in May 2022, Ortiz was able to outwork Jamel Herring as he cruised to a decisive victory.

Five months later, Ortiz was rewarded with a big opportunity, as he would face a man who spent multiple years at the top of the pound-for-pound list. In a non-title affair, Ortiz shared the ring with former three-division world champion Vasiliy Lomachenko.

In the first half of the contest, Jamaine Ortiz won the majority of the rounds as he was fighting at an accelerated pace. Ortiz used his jab and footwork to set up sharp combinations. Once Ortiz landed his combinations he was able to quickly move out of range.

After getting off to an excellent start, Ortiz began to fade. Lomachenko proceeded to execute his offense and win the majority of the rounds in the second half of the fight. At the conclusion of the 12-round contest, Lomachenko was awarded the unanimous decision victory.

After suffering the first defeat of his pro career, Jamaine Ortiz bounced back by collecting a victory over Antonio Moran. Five months later, Ortiz was in a position to make a dream become a reality.

On February 8, 2024, Jamaine Ortiz stepped inside the squared circle to challenge the WBO super-lightweight world champion Teofimo Lopez. The action was at a minimum as Ortiz chose to move around and fight off the back foot while Lopez pressed forward, but he had difficulty cutting the ring off.

As the fight played out, Jamaine Ortiz landed 80 total punches, while Teofimo Lopez only landed 78.  In the power shots category, Lopez landed 66, and Ortiz landed 60. At the conclusion of the bout, the judges favored aggression, as Teofimo Lopez was declared the winner.

Now after falling short in his first world title fight, Jamaine Ortiz (17-2-1, 8 KOs) is ready to step inside the ring and make a statement as he pursues another opportunity to fight for a world title. His opponent is currently in a position to post a signature win while playing the role of spoiler.

Since winning his first 19 pro bouts, the Argentinian boxer Cristian Ruben Mino has experienced a career that consists of ups and downs. Now, Mino finds himself in a place where he has a chance to collect that elusive win over a named opponent.

Jamaine Ortiz is a high-energy boxer who routinely uses constant movement and a busy jab, and he consistently throws punches in bunches. His opponent, Cristian Ruben Mino, stands at a mere 5 foot 4 inches tall, but he is compact, and he features an offensive attack where he likes to touch the body and then strike up top.

The 28-year-old Jamaine Ortiz wants a rematch against the reigning WBO super-lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez. Ortiz can start the process of earning that rematch by stepping in the ring and delivering a dominant performance on Friday night.
