The full-back change has arrived, Arne Slott is officially the new manager of Liverpool and he is not the only one who has now officially started his job.

One era has closed and another has officially arrived as June 1 heralds the start of contracts for Slott, members of his delegation and key decision makers at the club and FSG.

A day after the end of the season, Slott was announced as the new head coach, but his work now really begins on Merseyside as he prepares for his first season in charge.

He joins the Dutchman Sipke Hulshoffhis assistant and Reuben Peeterslead coach of the physical performance of the first team, and is expected to follow from Feyenoord.

It is also the official first day on the job for the new sports director Richard Hughes and his assistant David Woodfinealthough we know the former has been involved for some time.

It officially starts on June 1st:

  • Arne Slott – Head coach
  • Sipke Hulshoff – Assistant
  • Reuben Peeters – Lead coach for physical performance of the first team
  • Richard Hughes – sports director
  • David Woodfine – assistant sports director
  • Michael Edwards – General manager of FSG for football
  • Julian Ward – technical director of FSG
  • Pedro Marques – football development director

Hughes, who swapped Bournemouth for Liverpool, first met Slott in April – well before his official start date – and the pair will now work closely together.

Slott, who takes over as head coach, will report to Hughes and Michael Edwardswho himself has now been officially unveiled as FSG’s CEO of Football.

Julian Ward is also now back in the fold a year after his departure, taking up the position of technical director for FSG, meaning he is not as hands-on at Liverpool.

He, along with Edwards, will work closely with him Pedro MarquesFSG’s new director of football development, with the trio looking to identify another football club to buy.

Marques will first settle at Liverpool, but has a wide-ranging remit when it comes to the club and FSG’s bid to expand its portfolio.

This is a significant season of change at Anfield. The hierarchy has changed and responsibilities are shared among more people after Jurgen Klopp took over most of the decisions.

The short-term focus will be on strengthening the team and preparing for the pre-season, which should begin in the first week of July.
