Manchester United have struggled to add to their squad since the Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee deals mainly due to their inability to move players on.

With no Saudi Pro League team coming forward for Casemiro, a deal for Manuel Ugarte has not materialised. The same problem exists for the full-back position.

Erik ten Hag wants to bring in an attack-minded full-back with Noussair Mazraoui the chosen option with Aaron Wan-Bissaka on his way out.

However, until United can get rid of the former Crystal Palace star, they cannot bring in the Moroccan. West Ham United were in pole position but now there is a genuine danger that the move could collapse.

AWB to West Ham, a complicated affair

Initially, the Hammers were trying to agree a cut-price deal for the right-back but United were unwilling to sell.

After both teams agreed on a fee, it emerged that the 26-year-old was asking for a massive pay-off which United were reluctant to pay.

As per Claret&Hugh, a source for West Ham-related information, Wan-Bissaka is reportedly asking for £7 million just to leave Old Trafford.

This is the main roadblock holding up the deal. Whether this will be solved anytime soon remains a mystery. The Hammers are also not in a position to pay this amount on top of the asking price.

“The incredible cost of Wan Bissaka’s Manchester United pay-off has been exclusively revealed to Claret & Hugh within the last hour.

Pay-off amount revealed

“Wan Bissaka wants a £7m pay off from United because he’s a Bosman in a year, that’s the problem.

“Manchester United have no desire to pay a departing player a loyalty bonus, and West Ham are also in no position to pay such a hefty fee on top of the transfer figure.”

Wan-Bissaka’s current deal ends next year after United triggered the one-year extension option. It was done to protect his market value with the club looking at selling him on.

Once the former Eagles star leaves, United are expected to sign the Bayern defender. There have also been murmurs of an approach for Denzel Dumfries but that would be contingent on Wan-Bissaka choosing to join Inter instead.
