Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka will reportedly not be making the switch to West Ham United, with his wage demands proving too excessive for Julen Lopetegui’s side.

For some weeks now, West Ham have been pursuing Wan-Bissaka in a bid to reinforce their right-back position.

It’s believed that the Hammers even demonstrated a willingness to meet United’s £18million asking price for the player.

However, it was stated that a transfer has yet to go through because Wan-Bissaka is demanding a multi-million-pound pay-off from United.

The defender’s representatives are pushing the Red Devils to give the player a sum of the £18m fee to ensure his move to West Ham goes through successfully.

A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Wan-Bissaka is looking for a pay-off of around £7m.

Amidst all this, it emerged that the Hammers turned their attention to Newcastle’s Kieran Trippier. It was claimed that West Ham had not completely abandoned their pursuit of Wan-Bissaka as they still hold him in high regard.

However, TEAMtalk now divulge that the Irons have walked away from the deal.

“Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s proposed move from Manchester United to West Ham is OFF, TEAMtalk can reveal, with the player’s wage demands an insurmountable hurdle to the deal.”

“And that could hurt Man Utd‘s hopes of landing Noussair Mazraoui, with the deal for the Bayern Munich full-back thought to hinge on Wan-Bissaka moving on to pastures new.”

“It is believed that the clubs had reached an agreement in principle for Wan-Bissaka, whose current contract is due to expire next summer, which would have freed up Man Utd to complete a deal for 26-year-old Mazraoui. What’s more, reports elsewhere had claimed West Ham and Wan-Bissaka had verbally agreed personal terms roughly one week ago. That was not the case.”

“TEAMtalk can reveal that Wan-Bissaka’s wage demands have put paid to any hope of West Ham getting the deal over the line.”

The outlet notes that “an alternative solution” has emerged for United, in the form of Denzel Dumfries.

Earlier this week, the reliable David Ornstein explained that Dumfries decided to hold off on putting pen to paper on a new Inter Milan deal, in the hope that United swoop in for him before the end of the transfer window.

There is now a real chance that a direct swap could take place, which would see Dumfries join United and Wan-Bissaka head the other way. This option has been suggested by intermediaries but with Wan-Bissaka’s transfer to West Ham off the table, it “could quickly catch light.”

Wan-Bissaka finds a switch to the Serie A champions more appealing than the Irons.
