Oklahoma State quarterback Garrett Rangel, who started Friday at No. 13 BYU in place of Alan Bowman, will be out “some time” with an upper-body injury suffered in the first half.

Coach Mike Gundy did not mention the injury, but Rangel was seen on the sideline in the second half of the game. Rangel left the game after a 54-yard run and Oklahoma State Radio reported he suffered a collarbone injury.

“He’s going to be out for a while,” Gundy said, adding that he could not predict when the redshirt would return.

Rangel completed 6 of 9 passes for 51 yards with one touchdown and one interception, while adding 77 rushing yards on five carries. Bowman, who has struggled with accuracy and consistency, will start in Rangel’s absence.

He had 85 passing yards with one touchdown and one interception, and added three carries for 19 rushing yards, while eventually leading the go-ahead touchdown drive in a 38–35 Oklahoma State loss. Bowman, a seventh-year senior, led the offense in 2023 as Oklahoma State made a surprising run to the Big 12 Championship Game.
