Manchester United’s teenage sensation Alejandro Garnacho will reportedly start for Argentina tonight (Sunday morning UK time) against Peru in their final group game of Copa America.
This would be a debut for the youngster at a major tournament for his nation.
TyC sports jounralist Gaston Edul has confirmed on X that Garnacho will start by posting a photo of the winger in an Argentine shirt with the caption “titular” which means starter in Spanish.

He later posted another cryptic post apparently claiming that Garnacho would start alongside former United player Angel Di Maria and also Lautaro Martinez, who is the tournament’s joint top scorer with two goals so far.

The Argentines have already booked their place in the quarter finals with two wins from two and most likely have top spot sewn up as they have three points more and a significantly better goal difference than second placed Canada.
Garnacho has so far not made it off the bench in either of his country’s two opening encounters and he has not had the impact that he would have wished for so far.
The 19 year old has come off a good year at United where he scored 10 goals in all competitions, including the opening goal in the FA Cup final and also solidified his position in the starting line up, playing over 50 games this season.
Nonetheless, this has not yet translated to game time for la Albiceleste and he will be champing at the bit to make his mark on the tournament.
The Argentine coach, Lionel Scaloni, has already spoken on the challenges of including the exciting winger, claiming that be would “love” to play him but it is not easy to leave out the usual starters.
The electric forward will be dreaming of making an impressive impact and perhaps even scoring to give himself an outside chance of starting or at least playing significant minutes from the bench in the Argentines’ quarter final matchup.
One United star, Lisandro Martinez, has already started two of his nation’s matches and put in a passing and defensive masterclass in Argentina’s tight win over Chile earlier in the week.
Fellow United man Facundo Pellistri has also shone for Uruguay in the tournament, grabbing a goal and an assist last time out as his side crushed Bolivia 5-0.
United fans will be hoping that Garnacho can join his teammates in putting in a stellar performance for his nation tonight.
