Liverpool are yet to confirm the appointment of Sipke Hulshoff as Arne Slott’s assistant, with the Dutch coach giving a cryptic update at the weekend.

Slott’s tenure as Liverpool head coach officially began on June 1, but as it stands, there was little bother for the club to reveal.

There was no internal interview with Jurgen Klopp’s successor or any additional details when it comes to his backroom staff.

However, he is expected to join Hulshoff as his No.2, while Ruben Peeters’ agency has already confirmed his move from Feyenoord as lead coach for first-team physical performance.

Hulshoff spoke to regional broadcaster NOF over the weekend and, in quotes carried by Omrop Fryslan, gave a cryptic answer about his move to Liverpool.

“I can’t go into too much detail, but at the end of the day it’s the head coach who decides who comes,” he said.

“And the cooperation with Arne is at such a good level that his trust in me is also great and that is wonderful.”

Hulshoff’s move to Liverpool is still certain, having already left his position in the Dutch national team in anticipation.

Any delay in his appointment could be because he is awaiting a work permit, which has cast doubt on the arrival of technical adviser Etienne Reijnen.

Virgil van Dijk, however, effectively confirmed Hulshoff’s appointment in an interview with NOS ahead of the European Championships.

“I’m very happy for (Slott) and his family, and also for Sipke, of course, despite the fact that he won’t be (with the national team),” the Liverpool captain said.

The 49-year-old is currently still in the Netherlands attending the match between former club SC Twijzel and VV Steenwijk on Sunday.

Liverpool saw assistants Pepijn Lijnders and Peter Krawietz leave the club alongside Klopp, while at least five other members of staff also decided to leave.

Vitor Matos has joined Lijnders at Red Bull Salzburg and goalkeeper boss John Achterberg will join Steven Gerrard’s staff at Al-Ettifaq.

Assistant goalkeeper coach Jack Robinson left, but Claudio Taffarel decided to stay, and fitness staff Andreas Kornmayer and Andreas Schlumberger also left.

Liverpool have seen a number of off-field appointments, many of which will be in positions within the Fenway Sports Group rather than at the club itself.

But the makeup of Slott’s coaching staff has not yet been confirmed.
