Austin FC’s roster for the second half of the season continues to fill out.

Less than a week after the announcement of the signing of designated player Osman BukariThe Verde & Black formalized the signing of defender Mikkel Desler.

Desler, 29, had been reported to join the club by The Athletic and overseas football media since January.

A right back from Denmark, Desler spent the last three seasons with Toulouse FC in France. He helped the club win promotion to the first division in 2022 and win the domestic cup competition and qualify for the Europa League in 2023.

Prior to his time in France, Desler played five seasons for Odense BK in Denmark and two seasons for FK Haugesund in Norway.

Desler’s contract is guaranteed until 2027 with a club option for 2028.

Like Bukari, Desler can practice with the club immediately but cannot appear in a game until July 20, which is Austin FC’s first game after the MLS summer transfer window opens on July 18.
