AUSTIN (KXAN) – Austin FC continued to make roster moves Monday ahead of the July 18 summer transfer window, signing Ukrainian center back Oleksandr Svatok.
The club announced that Svatok will join on a good contract through the 2027 season with a team option for 2028. He will not be available to play until the transfer window opens, but he is currently busy playing for Ukraine in the UEFA European Championship. Fans can catch it early when Ukraine plays Belgium at 11 a.m. June 26 on FOX.

Svatok comes to Austin via transfer from Ukrainian team SC Dnipro-1. According to Global football market website Transfermarkt, Austin FC bought Svatok for a fee of around $1.28 million (€1.2 million). Svatok has played the past four seasons for his hometown team making 109 appearances and serving as captain.
“Oleksandr is a defender who has consistently shown great leadership over many years with his previous clubs,” said Austin FC sporting director Rodolfo Borrell. “He will join us from the UEFA European Championship competition and will bring a physical presence to our defensive options.”
He will occupy a high and international list and join Osman Bukari AND Mikkel Desler as additions that will be available once the summer transfer window begins.
Austin FC won 1-0 on the road against Minnesota United on June 23 to stay in the playoff picture with 27 points. They face Sporting Kansas City on Saturday.
