Manchester United are still in the race for RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Cesc, with the striker still available for a transfer despite suggestions he has agreed to join Arsenal.

Securing the services of the talisman is believed to be a top priority for United heading into the summer transfer window.

Despite enjoying a promising debut season in England in which he showed flashes of brilliance, it is clear that Rasmus Hojlund still needs support. At just 21, the Dane cannot be expected to lead United’s attack every week on his own. The club is also in dire need of quality depth up front, especially following the departure of Anthony Martial. That’s where Sesko comes in.

United’s interest in Cesko can be traced back to two years ago when he was still at RB Salzburg. At the time, the Slovenian turned down a potential move to Old Trafford in favor of continuing his development and football education at RB Leipzig, and it’s a decision that has paid off.

In the just concluded Bundesliga season, the 20-year-old scored 14 goals and provided two assists in 31 games. He scored 18 goals in all competitions.

Speculation surrounding Ceska and the possibility of a move to United intensified last month when his agent, Elvis Basanovic, was photographed at Old Trafford during a game against Arsenal. Days later, Basanovic spoke to a Slovenian newspaper and admitted that his client was attracting overtures from some of England’s biggest teams.

In addition to United, Chelsea and Arsenal have also been mentioned as parties seeking a transfer for the 20-year-old.

A recent report covered by The Peoples Person reports that Sesko prefers to sign for the Gunners and become the latest addition to Mikel Arteta’s ranks. It further stated that a deal in the region of £45m is in the pipeline.

However, according to the reliable Ben Jacobs, this is not the case and Sesko’s future is not decided.

Jacobs wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “The situation with Benjamin Seska remains open. The variable release clause has now risen to £55m.”

“Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and PSG are still interested. Arsenal and Chelsea with the most concrete approaches to date.”

“Šeško has not yet agreed to any club. Leipzig has also put a lucrative rebuild on the table.”

“Sesko also had a Saudi approach. Both clubs from Jeddah, Al-Ahli and Al-Ittihad talked about him, but there is no indication that Sesko wants to move there.”

Jacobs also noted that Sesko is not the only striker Arsenal are eyeing, which could boost United’s hopes of landing the RB Leipzig player. The north London club also admire Joshua Zirkzee, Evan Ferguson and Viktor Gyokeres.

It is important that United move quickly if they are to secure Sesko’s services. Rival teams aren’t waiting around and it’s clear that most of them are intent on getting the job done early enough.
