Last season was one to forget for Manchester United winger Antony as he netted only twice in the whole campaign as off-field issues dogged him throughout.
He was accused of domestic violence by one of his former partners and was asked by the club not to return before the allegations were addressed.
Upon his return, his minutes got drastically reduced as Alejandro Garnacho shone on the right and even when he got chances, he flattered to deceive.
A lot was expected from him when Erik ten Hag instructed the club to go all out for the Brazilian. The Red Devils eventually agreed a deal with Ajax for a mammoth €95 million.
Antony has struggled in red
He scored on his debut and in his three Premier League games as well as a stunner against Barcelona but the thinking was that the fans would see even more of him as he adapted to his new surroundings.
However, his one-dimensional skillset had fans tearing their hair out last term and eventually, the Dutch manager opted to promote Amad Diallo as his starting right-winger instead of his big-money recruit.
That trend has continued in pre-season and despite Ten Hag’s unequivocal support, INEOS are of the opinion that the Brazilian is not good enough and needs to be moved on.
However, not many clubs can afford his humongous wages of £200,000 per week (as per Capology) and the Red Devils are destined to incur a huge loss on their initial investment.
Besiktas eyeing Antony
As per reports in Turkey, Besiktas are open to bringing the Brazil international to their club but the former Sao Paulo star has no intention of leaving Old Trafford.
He still has three years left in his current deal and with his former Ajax coach behind him, he has no reason to leave the club.
There were talks of a potential loan exit to French club Lille but his agent shut those rumours down by stating his client was fully focussed on having a great season at his current home.
Besiktas, who finished sixth last campaign, also have no European football on offer and it makes a move highly unlikely. INEOS will have to try and find a new, more suitable club if they are to move on the misfiring winger this summer.
