Manchester United bounced back from their previous pre-season defeat against Arsenal with a 3-2 win against La Liga side Real Betis on Thursday.

After Leny Yoro and Rasmus Hojlund suffered injuries against the Gunners, it was the turn of Marcus Rashford and Antony to suffer injury scares and the exact extent will be known in the days to come.

The Brazilian only emerged as a second-half substitute but lasted only 23 minutes and was visibly frustrated as headed straight down the tunnel with the physio.

Amad Diallo has now scored twice in pre-season and is looking the sharpest among all United attackers and as things stand, the Ivorian is expected to be a starter once the season kicks off.

Antony injury scare

That means the former Ajax star will have a tough task on his hands to earn minutes and if he gets injured, it might make it even more difficult for the 24-year-old to dislodge Amad.

There have been multiple reports which have stated that while Erik ten Hag is still hopeful of getting the Brazil international to play like he did in Amsterdam, INEOS are not as optimistic.

They are open to offloading Antony even if they incur a huge loss on their initial investment. Not many teams have come forward considering the player’s woeful 23/24 campaign.

Besiktas were recently linked with a move with intermediaries in touch with the Turkish side but Turkish-Football have claimed that the Black Eagles have turned down the chance at bringing the former Sao Paulo star to the Tüpraş Stadyumu.

“Manchester United winger Antony will not be joining Turkish side Besiktas this summer, despite speculation linking the Brazilian with a move away from Old Trafford.

Besiktas not interested

“The Besiktas board have vetoed a move for the winger, sources have told Turkish-Football. The winger was linked with Besiktas and intermediaries had approached the club regarding a potential move but the board have made it clear they are not interested.

“A loan transfer had been rumoured as being on the cards but the Black Eagles will not be entering any formal negotiations.”

With Jadon Sancho also back and Alejandro Garnacho impressing on the right last season, Antony has certainly fallen down the pecking order.

His future in Manchester looks uncertain and he needs to perform this season or else he will need to pack his bags and head for a new home.
