Dmitry Bivol’s manager, Vadim Kornilov, signaled they’re ready for a potential rematch with Canelo Alvarez. On X, Kornilov posted that the superstar Canelo must “avenge” his defeats against Bivol (23-0, 12 KOs) and Floyd Mayweather Jr. if he wasn’t retired.

WBA light heavyweight champion Bivol still needs to win his undisputed fight next month against IBF, WBC, and WBO champ Artur Beterbiev on October 12th in Riyadh.

“Canelo has to avenge his losses to Bivol and Floyd Mayweather [if he wasn’t retired] before he or they say that he is the greatest again,” said Vadim Kornilov on X.

It don’t know why Kornilov mentioned Mayweather in his post. He’s been retired for seven years and is as old as the hills at 47. Floyd is so old and slow now that he probably couldn’t beat one of the high-end YouTubers at this stage of his life.

Mayweather looks like an ancient fossil now from the Mesozoic era of the dinosaurs from 252 to 66 million years ago. Putting Mayweather in the ring with Canelo at this point would be a bad idea.

For Kornilov to be talking up a rematch with Canelo, he’s getting ahead of himself, assuming that Bivol will defeat Beterbiev (20-0, 20 KOs). There’s an excellent chance that Beterbiev is going to knock Bivol out and expose him as having a fragile chin.

Bivol was already hurt in several of his fights and looked in panic mode after being staggered by Lyndon Arthur last December. After being hurt by Lyndon, Bivol stayed on the outside, fighting a dull fight, throwing jabs, and running away each time Lyndon would come forward. That was as boring as watching one of Shakur Stevenson’s fights.

Bivol lacks the chin to handle a puncher like Beterbiev without moving around the ring endlessly for 12 rounds.

It would have been nice if His Excellency insisted on Bivol defending against David Benavidez first in a semifinal match.

It would be far more entertaining for fans if Benavidez (29-0, 24 KOs) and Artur Beterbiev met for the undisputed champions rather than having Bivol, with his safety-first style, being the one to battle Artur for the four-belt championship. U.S fans would be a lot more interested in watching Beterbiev-Benavidez than Beterbiev-Bivol.
