Unbeaten Lightweight prospect Abdullah Mason (15-0, 13 KOs) showed off his dominance on Saturday night with a statement second-round knockout win over Mike Ohan Jr. (19-3, 9 KOs) in the fight of the evening thus far at the Videotron Centre in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada.
Mason’s Power on Full Display
Mason immediately showed off his power, nailing the slender, rail-like Ohan Jr. with left-hand body shots in the first round. In a message of intent, Mason knocked Ohan down with a left uppercut late in the round.
Ohan Jr. got up slowly to his feet, as if he wasn’t sure he wanted to continue fighting. You could tell from looking at him, he was hurt not certain whether he wanted to resume after taking that big left. After the referee looked at him closely, he let the fight continue.
Ohan’s Corner Throws in the Towel
In the second round, it proved to be the end for the still hurt-looking Ohan Jr. Mason backed Ohan to the corner, hitting him with two jabs, straight left and a short right hook to the head to put him down on the canvas. Seeing that his fighter was in trouble, Ohan’s corner signaled to the referee to have the fight stopped. The time of the stoppage was at :40 of round two.
