Christian Eriksen put in a solid performance versus Denmark in their 2-0 Nations League victory over Switzerland last night.
The Danes sealed the victory with two late goals from Patrick Dorgu and Pierre-Emile Højbjerg.
The Scandinavians were helped as the Swiss were reduced to nine men during the match and the victory puts them top off their Nations League group ahead of Serbia, Spain and their opponents on the night.
Denmark had 55% of the ball and dominated the chances as they had 17 shots on goal in comparison to their opponents’ five.
United veteran Eriksen started his first game of the season and got some valuable minutes in his legs, as he has only played four minutes all season for the Red Devils.
The interim Danish coach has warned that Eriksen will need to find minutes soon this season if he is to continue to be selected for his national side but did his chances no harm at all with another fine performance.
The creative passer was one of his nation’s bright sparks in a pretty poor showing at last summer’s Euro 2024 and he continued to impress last night as Sofascore gave him a rating of 7.6.
The 32 year old was on the pitch for 62 minutes and as usual was the heartbeat of what is nation did well on the ball.
He had two shots on target, one off it and had one blocked in an eventful hour of action, but could not open the scoring.
Eriksen had 42 touches of the ball and had a passing accuracy of 88% from his 32 passes.
He also almost grabbed an assist as he created one big chance but it was not converted by his teammate.
The playmaker did put three crosses into the box as he probed for an opener but none of his efforts were successfully met by a colleague.
The Dane’s agent has already claimed that the player is confident he will earn more minutes at Old Trafford after the international break due to the games coming thick and fast with the beginning of the Carabao Cup and Europa League.
Clearly he still has much to offer on the international stage and will be hoping Erik ten Hag gives him the chance to show he can still breathe some life into his Old Trafford career.
He will be looking for more minutes to show his manager what he has been missing when his side take on Serbia on Sunday night.
