10 Liverpool players have been confirmed for Euro 2024, and at least eight players have a realistic chance of winning the tournament.
Liverpool will have 10 players represented at the Euros in Germany, three of whom will captain their nation this summer.
At the very least, there will be three games in the group stage with Liverpool players in the opposing teams.
And, with at least eight players expected to progress, there could be plenty of influence from the Reds in the later stages of July.
Here are 10 Liverpool players confirmed for Euro 2024:
Scotland – Robertson
Group A matches:
Germany – 14 June, 20:00 (BST)
Switzerland – June 19, 8 p.m
Hungary – June 23, 8 p.m
Scotland captain Andy Robertson heads to Euro 2024 after an impressive qualifying campaign for Steve Clarke’s side.
Ben Doak could have joined him in Germany, but the youngster was forced to withdraw from the pre-season due to injury.
In their final group game, they will face Hungary captain and Liverpool team-mate Dominik Szoboszlai in what is likely to be the decider of the group.
However, before that, he will lead his team in the first game of the tournament, against the host Germany at the Allianz Arena Bayern Munich.
Hungary – Szoboszlai
Group A matches:
Switzerland – June 15, 2 p.m
Germany – June 19, 5 p.m
Scotland – June 23, 8 p.m
In addition to the clash with Scotland and Germany, Hungary has a tough match against Switzerland.
If they want to progress to the knockout stages, you’d think they’d have to avoid defeat at the very least in the first leg.
It will be interesting to see how Szoboszlai performs for his country, given his poor end to the campaign with Liverpool.
England – Alexander-Arnold & Gomez
Group C matches:
Serbia – June 16, 8 p.m
Denmark – June 20, 5 p.m
Slovenia – June 25, 8 p.m
With Curtis Jones now on holiday and Jarell Quansah on standby, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez are the only two Reds left in England.
England are favorites to win the tournament and, if they do, Alexander-Arnold will be key.
Gareth Southgate deploys the Liverpool man in midfield and so far he has impressed enough to be in most fans’ favorite starting line-up.
Gomez will feel he should be involved from the start, but is likely to only play as a substitute. Its versatility was the main reason for its selection.
Netherlands – Van Dijk, Gakpo, Gravenberch
Group D matches:
Poland – June 16, 2 p.m
France – June 21, 8 p.m
Austria – June 25, 5 p.m
With Ryan Gravenberch, Cody Gakpo and captain Virgil van Dijk selected by Ronald Koeman to represent the Netherlands, there should be plenty of interest from Liverpool fans.
And it’s not just the current trio that will feature, of course, with Liverpool-linked Lutsharel Geertruida and Teun Koopmeiners.
Former Red Gini Winaldum will also play a key role in the Netherlands’ bid to win their first international tournament since Euro 1988. That year the competition was also hosted in Germany.
France – Connate
Group D matches:
Austria – June 17, 8 p.m
The Netherlands – June 21, 8 p.m
Poland – June 25, 5 p.m
Along with England, France is the team that is declared to win the Euro.
Playing with a back three, Didier Deschamps used Ibrahim Konate as a central centre-back in their first friendly.
The French have a group from which they are expected to qualify, but it also includes a tough game against the Netherlands.
Czech Republic – Jaros
Group F schedule:
Portugal – June 18, 8 p.m
Georgia – June 22, 2 p.m
Turkey – June 26, 8 p.m
After receiving his first senior call-up to the Czech national team in March, Vitezslav Jaroš made his debut in a friendly match against Malta.
This comes after a brilliant few months on loan at Sturm Graz, where he won a league and cup double, knocking Red Bull Salzburg out of Austrian dominance.
Despite his impressive loan spell, Jaros is not expected to be first choice at the Euros. That mantle should go to Matej Kovar from Bayer Leverkusen.
Portugal – Jota
Group F schedule:
Czech Republic – June 18, 8 p.m
Turkey – June 22, 5 p.m
Georgia – June 26, 8 p.m
Diogo Jota may not start for Portugal given the fractured nature of his season at Anfield, but he will still play a key role in their campaign.
When fit, he often plays on the left for Roberto Martinez’s team. The Portuguese have probably the easiest group of all and hopefully they will give Jota time to grow into the tournament.
