Anderlecht manager Brian Riemer has admitted to trying to use his networks and relationships to try and sign Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen.

Eriksen is believed to be one of the players United are open to selling in their efforts to raise money to bankroll incomings this summer.

Last term, Eriksen saw his playing time greatly reduced due to a combination of an injury he suffered and the emergence of young Kobbie Mainoo.

Considering he is out of contract at United next year, the current transfer window represents United’s best chance of netting some money from parting ways with him.

Eriksen recently opened up on his Old Trafford future and indicated that he still has a desire to continue playing under Erik ten Hag.

He stated that he is happy at United and is fully focused on convincing Ten Hag to play him as much as possible.

The Denmark international has so far been linked to teams such as Ajax and Galatasaray.

A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Jupiler Pro League side Anderlecht also want Eriksen.

On Sunday, Anderlecht secured a 1-0 win over Sint-Truidense VV in the first game of the new season. After the final whistle, Riemer was asked about his club’s pursuit of Eriksen.

The Anderlecht boss said (via Tipsbladet), “We are always looking for good players. Connections can help with this.”

“Last year nobody expected Thorgan Hazard to be here until it happened on the last day. Just like with Kasper Schmeichel.”

“Doors open and close quickly.”

Eriksen and Riemer know each other well from their time together in the Premier League at Brentford. At the time, Riemer was Thomas Frank’s assistant.

Tipsbladet note that Anderlecht will not find it easy to add Eriksen to their ranks as it’s a “very difficult” deal to get over the line.
