Conor McGregor and Khamzat Chimaev haven’t had the best of times recently with both of their scheduled bouts in June going bust due to injuries and medical problems. Meanwhile, UFC welterweight star Joaquin Buckley decided to go to social media and take a dig at ‘The Notorious’ and ‘Borz’, taking aim at their recent struggles.

There’s no doubt that Conor McGregor and Khamzat Chimaev are two of the biggest draws in the UFC. People have been clamoring to see them in action, but things haven’t turned out the way they would have wanted to. But guess what? Joaquin Buckley doesn’t seem to care about their problems too much.

Joaquin Buckley put on a clinical performance against Nursulton Ruziboev in the latter’s first 170-pound bout. He edged past the Uzbek fighter and then made a callout that people didn’t seem to connect with. Buckley wanted a piece of Conor McGregor, who’s slated to fight Michael Chandler. However, there was a little bit of backlash going on behind the scenes with his callout, prompting ‘New Mansa’ to shift his attention to Gilbert Burns.

Regardless, fans wanted to know if he was still interested in getting his hands on Conor McGregor, which Joaquin Buckley did not see happening. It could be a practical response or even a jibe at the Irishman’s return getting extended indefinitely. Instead, he made an unusual request to ‘The Notorious’. Buckley seems to looking for a chance to get sponsored by McGregor, who’s built some popular alcohol brands. But he didn’t stop there and took a shot at Khamzat Chimaev next.

Chimaev’s health struggles have been there for fans to see for a while now. It isn’t a novel thing anymore. But what does Joaquin Buckley do with this knowledge? He’d make fun of Chimaev. A video of ‘Borz’ popped up on social media about him asking his queries about cryptocurrency and which coin to invest in. As a reply, Buckley would suggest that Chimaev invest in his health. However, this isn’t his first dig at the Emirati star because ‘New Mansa’ took aim at ‘Borz’ following his UFC Saudi Arabia pullout as well.

The UFC’s inaugural event in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was surely a success, but it could have been much bigger if Khamzat Chimaev, who pulled out due to food poisoning, competed on that card. But in the wake of his withdrawal, Joaquin Buckley took to social media a couple of weeks ago, in an attempt to call out ‘Borz’ for a fight at welterweight.

“Khamzat’s weight should be down after getting off the toilet from the runs. [UFC] [Khamzat Chimaev] would be a fun one at 170. [smiling emoji] #ICU,” tweeted Joaquin Buckley. After making a blunder with the Conor McGregor callout, do you think ‘New Mansa’ is making a similar mistake by calling out Khamzat Chimaev? Could Chimaev be a more feasible opponent than ‘The Notorious?’ Back in April 2022, Chimaev and Buckley exchanged some heated words backstage before UFC 273. Could we see them trade heat in the cage soon?

We don’t know what’s next for Joaquin Buckley, but he seems to be trying to get one big fish for a big-time fight. What are your thoughts on ‘New Mansa’s recent comments on Conor McGregor and Khamzat Chimaev? Drop your comments below.
