The UFL to NFL news just keeps on rolling. Saturday, the Dallas Cowboys signed WR’s Deontay Burnett and Kelvin Harmon to their Training Camp roster, following successful workouts with the team.

Deontay Burnett | Arlington Renegades

Deontay Burnett was one of the top wideout prospects coming into the UFL. He played in the XFL in 2023, with the Houston Roughnecks – and performed at a high level throughout the year. Ultimately, the Arlington Renegades picked him up during the USFL-XFL merger process.

Deontay ended up starting in five of 10 games for Arlington this year, racking up 306 receiving yards and two touchdowns for the Renegades. He was a first down machine, with 22 of his 34 receptions moving the chains.

Burnett has sneaky speed – as his 4.70 40 yard dash isn’t fully accurate as to what actually translates on the field. He’s been electric for back to back seasons in spring football, and now receives a well deserved NFL opportunity in Dallas.

Kelvin Harmon | DC Defenders

Kelvin Harmon was one of the many success stories in the UFL this year. Harmon had spent some time away from football, rehabbing from injuries – and also trying to find his footing in the pro scene. He saw a ton of success with the Washington Redskins in 2019, recording 365 receiving yards; but since then, couldn’t stick on a roster.

Interestingly enough, Kelvin was actually on the Philadelphia Stars roster for a bit in 2023, but was cut prior to the season kicking off.

This led Harmon to eventually sign with the DC Defenders for the 2024 UFL season. Kelvin was tremendous for an offense that desperately needed someone to step up. Harmon racked up 375 receiving yards and three touchdowns, leading the Defenders in all receiving categories prior to his injury in week seven.

Kelvin started in seven games for DC, but a hamstring injury caused him to miss the rest of the year. Now that he’s healthy again, Harmon is getting a chance with the Dallas Cowboys – which is something we love to see, given everything he’s been through over the last few years.

Final Thoughts

There was plenty of offensive talent in the UFL this year, and it’s not surprising to see Kelvin Harmon and Deontay Burnett land on NFL rosters. Both performed at a high level, and now have a shot to prove themselves in camp.

Without the national platform that the UFL provided both Deontay and Kelvin with, who knows if this opportunity would have been possible. You can stay up to date with all UFL to NFL signings with our official tracker.
