Dan Gore’s absence from Manchester United training ahead of the upcoming 2024/25 season has been explained.
Gore was included in United’s pre-season tour last summer and was tipped to have a breakthrough season at the club.
He spent the second half of last term out on loan with Port Vale, but his time there was disrupted by an injury which he sustained after just one appearance.
The midfielder didn’t play again for the Valiants.
Earlier in June, Gore confirmed that he successfully underwent surgery for a dislocated shoulder. The expectation was that he would be fit for the start of the season but this has not panned out.
According to The Manchester Evening News, it is the same “freak shoulder injury” that has kept Gore from returning to United training in the hopes of impressing Ten Hag.
The newspaper explains, “The new season is just around the corner, but it’s understood the 19-year-old is yet to return to training at Carrington as he continues his recovery from the freak injury.”
“The transfer window for Premier League clubs shuts on August 30 and it looks increasingly likely that Gore will not get the chance to leave United on a season-long loan.”
“United will decide Gore’s next step with his long-term development in mind and he may be forced to wait until the January transfer window to leave on loan again.”
MEN note that for Gore to leave on loan this summer, the player would need to return to training in the next two weeks.
United would then have to find a club willing to take him without having the benefit of pre-season to regain full fitness.
Gore made his senior bow for the Red Devils in the Carabao Cup victory over Crystal Palace in September. A Premier League debut followed when he came on as a late substitute during a dramatic 3-2 comeback against Aston Villa on Boxing Day.
